This Athabascan community on the Lower Yukon, between Galena and Unalakleet, traces its heritage to a time well before the Russian explorers, the Alaska Purchase and the gold rush era. Nestled at the base of the Nulato Hills the territory surrounding modern day Kaltag has long been popular for hunting and fishing camps. Even today, the subsistence life style remains a vital part of the local economy.
AVEC helps deliver reliable electric power to Kaltag residents and businesses. Our generating capacity is 822 kW and our annual kilowatt hours sold is in the neighborhood of 622,000.
