AVEC Lowers Rates!
February 9th, 2010
The Alaska Village Electric Cooperative (AVEC) board of directors recently voted unanimously to decrease the cost of electric power by two cents per kilowatt hour, beginning with the bills that are issued in February.
"During 2009, our operating costs declined as we brought new generation online that had been largely built with grant funds," said Meera Kohler, AVEC President and CEO. "We are passing those savings along to our consumers."
Two cents a kWh will mean a reduction in AVEC’s revenue of about $1.4 million a year. A rate reduction notice has been filed with the Regulatory Commission of Alaska and their action is expected shortly.
The new rate schedule is available on our Website, under the Customer Service section.
